Reading real books

I feel it is time to explain why I was not blogging for a while. I had a big day on Tuesday (27^th). I went to the library. And when I say library, I mean a public library with all those novels, poetry, sci-fi, detective stories..., not the part of the university. So I spent some time with reading instead of writing.

I didn’t have a clear idea what kind of books I wanted to borrow. I simply wanted to discover some new author for myself. My problem is that I can’t make decision which book to take home. (I even have the same problem while shopping food :) Therefore I developed following strategy: I don’t really check what the book is about. Before I enter the library I decide which color of book I want. This time I took three green books. I am aware that I may borrow some real crap, but even if that happens, who cares? Actually this time I was quite lucky. Two of them were quite interesting and made me think about certain things.

Ben Elton: High Society ... about the full drug legalization. There are several stories of drug users linked together - member of Parliament, rock star, prostitutes, students... After reading this book legalization of cocaine and heroin doesn’t seem to be a bad idea ;)

Tom Lowe: Spin ... This one is about political machinations. Being young, dynamic and having power to use. Hey VPs, LCPs, MCPs, OCPs ...we all know how it feels, right? :) The difference is that money is not involved and we don’t rule California.

I don’t say these are the best books I ever read but they are worth mentioning and they are surprisingly inspiring considering that I chose them only because I wanted some green books.
